To enjoy a proper British beef pie.
One sunny morning, Dave marched proudly into the kitchen.
“Honey,” he announced, “today I’m making my grandmother’s famous beef pie. It’s going to be the finest pie ever baked in Thailand!”
His wife smiled.
“Wonderful! I’ll go to the market and buy everything you need.”
Two hours later…
The aroma of slow-cooked beef, rich gravy, and buttery pastry filled the entire house.
Dave proudly removed the golden pie from the oven.
“Now this,” he said, “is a taste of England.”
They placed the pie on the patio table to cool for a few minutes.
…
Exactly five minutes later…
His wife suddenly screamed.
“Dave!!”
He rushed outside…
…and froze.
The pie…
…was moving!
Not because it had come to life…
But because it was completely covered by millions of ants.
Dave stared in disbelief.
“My goodness… how did they get my grandmother’s recipe?”
His wife burst into laughter.
“You only left it outside for five minutes!”
Dave shook his head.
“These aren’t ordinary ants.”
“They’re members of…”
“…The Royal Thai Pie Appreciation Society!”
Every ant appeared to have a job.
Some carried tiny pieces of beef.
Others struggled away with chunks of potato.
Several seemed to be inspecting the pastry with the seriousness of Michelin-star food critics.
Meanwhile, the Queen Ant stood proudly on the edge of the pie, waving her antennae like a celebrity chef.
Dave adjusted his glasses.
“I think they’re judging it.”
His wife smiled.
“How many stars?”
Dave replied proudly,
“Five stars…
…and about five million customers.”
Before long, curious neighbours gathered around.
One asked,
“So… what happened?”
Dave smiled proudly.
“My pie has become incredibly popular.”
“It has more customers than every restaurant in the province put together.”
Another neighbour looked closer.
“Yes… but these customers don’t pay.”
Dave sighed.
“No…
They pay with compliments.”
His wife quietly disappeared into the kitchen before returning with another baking tray.
Next time,” she said calmly, “leave the pie inside the house.”
Dave nodded.
“I completely agree.”
“Because if I leave it outside again…”
“…those ants will probably open a bakery called…”
‘Ant’s British Pie & Bakery’
“…right here in our front garden.”
From that day on, Dave never left another beef pie outside.
As for the millions of ants…
Every evening they still marched past the house in perfect formation, as if asking one simple question:
“Any pie today?”
When the answer was no…
They simply turned around and marched home, carrying a tiny sign that read:
“We’ll be back tomorrow… just in case the English chef forgets again!” 🥧🐜😂
